AQUARIUM as stress prevention!

If you think that you can not avoid stress in your life and tried every possible solution like medication, massage, etc. Then try also to have a personal AQUARIUM at home. Some people put it at the living room as an additional decor but my wife and myself decided to place it in our bedroom and the result is really positive. Having more or less 8 hours work daily and doing some household jobs, hmmmm, it could be really a tough day and to mention that we have kids also, it is really not a question to relax and meditate sometimes or even before going to bed. But you have to ask first yourself if you can take care an aquarium? It is not like an electronic machine that you just switch on/off every time that you want. (**photo courtesy of Flickr)

I will focus today on what are the materials that you need. If you are a first timer and really zero knowledge on how to start it then buy first a 'hobby aquarium set'. It is a 60 liter aquarium with filter machine and automatic heater included. For your decor, you have to buy some sand, plastic ornaments, dry wood or big stone and some aquarium figures like castle or mermaid or anything that will attract your taste. Buying the complete set of hobby aquarium plus some cheap decor will need a budget of more or less Euro 70.

How to handle your PATIENCE?

Are you a Dad that really can not wait or hate delays or easily frustrated for something that is sometimes unreasonable to be impatient? Then you are not alone (he he he). I don't know if it is really hereditary or someone acquire it from the environment. What I only know is being impatient is not a good example to our kids, friends and also to HIM. If it is also your struggle then I have some tips that might help or even lessen the difficulty.

  1. Avoid STRESS - do not accomplish a certain task or act too much as if it will be the end of the world. Prioritize the things to be done at home. You are not a robot that could do everything or anything. If you can see some problems at home like something to be repaired or the lawn has to be cut or cook some food for the kids then do not be stressed. Prioritizing some task at home is the only solution to avoid it.
  2. Weigh the PROS and CONS - try to asses the situation first. You must have the ability to see the big PICTURE. Ask yourself WHY first. Do not blurt out first because the consequences might be negative. Pause and think for what you want to say, to avoid hurting or offending someone.
  3. Be COMPASSIONATE - learn to take responsibility for other feeling and well-being. If you have compassionate heart then you have the ability to help those people who are in pain.
  4. Learn the PROCESS - doing something at home is a process. Sometimes it needs much time to accomplish. Do not have this attitude of 'rush rush rush'. It will only ruin your nice day with your kids and wife. Slow down!
  5. WAIT - it is about having FAITH, be patient and believing in your goals. Let go of the disbelief and doubt in achieving your goal.
HE will support and always there to help achieve the things you desire.
BE PATIENT!

Self-confidence for kids

'I can't play basketball coz I am not too tall for the sport'. 'I can't dance coz nobody teach me how to since I was born'. I can't join the drama play in our school coz I am afraid people might laugh when I deliver my part'. 'I can't..I can't...and please Mom, Dad do not tell me to do it coz I can't!'

It really hurt sometimes if we as a parents hear those words from our kids. Right?! Being a parents, somehow we have the vital part in developing the self-confidence of our kids. How?

  • Give them the opportunities to do things at early age.

  • Make your kids feel good about themselves by saying nice words and full of encouragement.

  • Your kids must learn to trust their own abilities.

  • Teach your kids on how to overcome barriers and obstacles and to be positive again after doing some mistakes or failures. And learn from that failure.

  • Parents should have good self-confidence also. If you don't have also a self-confidence then it is like 'Blind leading the blind'.

  • Remember that you are you and your child is your child. He or she has separate life with a unique set of challenges.

And do not forget

Gentle correction is also important to develop the self-confidence of our kids.

How to care your ROSE?

'I will have a lot of rose in our garden, it should be different colors' my wife said 2 years ago when we decided to buy a house with a big garden. It is easy to say but how could you maintain a healthy rose for the rest of the summer specially if it has 'white dust or powdery mildew' all over including the buds and the leaves. I have tried every liquid chemical solution in the market but only one natural mix can help our rose. Just prepare 1 cup of normal milk and 8 cups of water. Mix it and use a spray to treat your roses at home. It is a better way to do it early in the morning around 6 AM. Be sure to treat not only the upper portion of the leaves but also the lower one. Do it twice a week and you will see some positive changes after a couple of months. Smile! (**Picture courtesy of Flickr)

Hint : Never plant your roses in a shadow places to avoid such disease.
