sauted corn with spinach, kids will love it!

Every kid hate more or less vegetables! Not always, if you are going to be creative and at the same time think of something that would be applicable to their taste bud. Kids eat a lot of fresh corn specially when it is boiled. I decided to make some experiment instead of boiling a fresh corn, I sauted it with some vegetables. They like it! How!

Ingredients :
  • 2 pcs. fresh corn (scrape it from the husk, separate the corn)
  • 3 tbsp. oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 pc. instant vegetable cube
  • 1 pc. Zucchini (slice thinly in cubes)
  • 250 gram fresh spinach
  • 1 pc. onion (slice thinly)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tbsp. fish sauce
Procedure :
  1. Pre-heat the oil for about 3 minutes. Quickly add the onions and garlic. Saute until brown.

  2. Add the scraped corn and instant vegetable cube. Saute for several minutes.

  3. Pour the water and let it boil for a couple of minutes.

  4. Add the spinach and Zucchini.

  5. Add the fish sauce. Do not over cooked the spinach and Zucchini.

  6. Serve while it is hot with some rice and fried fish.
Try it and kids will definitely love it!

some kids do not like vegie, M hates it also BUT I have a secret recipe

How come kids do not like vegie? M hates to eat it also. And I ask myself why? I can see him sometimes, trying to eat vegie but his mouth won't accept it. Weird but I can see him trying his best coz we always say 'Vegie has a lot of vitamins and kids specially like him should eat coz the human body needs nutricious food'. And we quote sometimes 'M you will be sick if you do not eat vegie...he he he'. And he is really trying but he can't. Until we discover a nice recipe that is light to prepare for every father (one of my favorite 'easy to do recipe'). I called it 'Vegie Omelet'

You just need the ff:

4 pcs egg (well beaten)
1 pc. onion ( chopped)
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
2 pcs. tomato (chopped)
1 pc carrot (chopped)
125 g. sprouted mung bean
1 tbsp. soja sauce
1 pc vege cube (knorr or any brand)

How to do the 'Vegie Omelet'?

Step 1. Saute the vegie cube then onion, tomato, carrot& sprouted mung bean. Season with garlic and soja sauce. Set aside when it is done.

Step 2. Mix the sauted food to the bitten egg. (Be sure to mix well)

Step 3. Get another non stick frying pan (see the above fig) , put some oil (pls. calculate your oil and be sure that when you put the mixed egg , it will not be soaked). Pre-heat for 2 mins under low fire.

Step 4. Carefully put the mixed egg and cook it slowly. (Tip: when the side tip of the omelet is getting too brown in color, you can slowly turn your omelet so that the other side will be cooked)

Congratulations! You have now a nutricious vegie omelet and I am sure your kids will love it. Do not forget the catsup. Smile!

cooking... light and easy!!!! (the italian way... wow!!!)

Ever been asking why our wife is sometimes working on a weekend when it is the only chance that we young father could relax and watch our favorite show and at the same time not be bothered even if our kids are there? But I have no choice sometimes coz my wife is working as a medical technologist in a public hospital and she should do some shifting even during the weekend and that is bad news coz I have to do all (whewwww!!!) the household chores. Cooking is one of the easiest task (joke) but it has to be done in a loving and full of patience (pls. agree) way. If it is also your problem, then try my own recipe and your children will really love it and I bet, they're gonna ask when will be the next weekend shift of their mom. Since I have two kids(11 & 6 yrs old) and proud to say that they really love to eat Italian dishes, I always buy 2 pcs of instant carbonara noodle(250 g.) and preparation would only be about 5 to 7 mins. Maybe you will ask, what is the big deal about that! It's just instant noodle, everybody can do it even if the eyes are closed. But i 've been doing this in a different way. I've been adding a few pieces of sliced ham especially those that will be expired the next day(ha ha ha). Don't forget to slice it and...... add it only to your carbonara dish, a few minutes before it is done. Flavoured ham like pimiento is not a good idea to add in your carbonara dish. And don't forget the secret of having a different instant carbonara noodle - put some garlic powder a few minutes before you serve it... goodluck young father!
