Self-confidence for kids

'I can't play basketball coz I am not too tall for the sport'. 'I can't dance coz nobody teach me how to since I was born'. I can't join the drama play in our school coz I am afraid people might laugh when I deliver my part'. 'I can't..I can't...and please Mom, Dad do not tell me to do it coz I can't!'

It really hurt sometimes if we as a parents hear those words from our kids. Right?! Being a parents, somehow we have the vital part in developing the self-confidence of our kids. How?

  • Give them the opportunities to do things at early age.

  • Make your kids feel good about themselves by saying nice words and full of encouragement.

  • Your kids must learn to trust their own abilities.

  • Teach your kids on how to overcome barriers and obstacles and to be positive again after doing some mistakes or failures. And learn from that failure.

  • Parents should have good self-confidence also. If you don't have also a self-confidence then it is like 'Blind leading the blind'.

  • Remember that you are you and your child is your child. He or she has separate life with a unique set of challenges.

And do not forget

Gentle correction is also important to develop the self-confidence of our kids.

How to care your ROSE?

'I will have a lot of rose in our garden, it should be different colors' my wife said 2 years ago when we decided to buy a house with a big garden. It is easy to say but how could you maintain a healthy rose for the rest of the summer specially if it has 'white dust or powdery mildew' all over including the buds and the leaves. I have tried every liquid chemical solution in the market but only one natural mix can help our rose. Just prepare 1 cup of normal milk and 8 cups of water. Mix it and use a spray to treat your roses at home. It is a better way to do it early in the morning around 6 AM. Be sure to treat not only the upper portion of the leaves but also the lower one. Do it twice a week and you will see some positive changes after a couple of months. Smile! (**Picture courtesy of Flickr)

Hint : Never plant your roses in a shadow places to avoid such disease.

The real meaning of JOY

Being a Dad and husband at the same time has been a great task that could be sometimes full of JOY! Did someone ask himself 'how come I can not feel the joy within my heart?' Is there emptiness? Then try to examine yourself because it is not yet late to be happy.

- How do you prioritize your life? Do you know what your priorities are? Is it your career first or your family above everything?

- Do you have personal satisfaction? Are you contented at the moment or still longing for something that could affect your lifestyle as Dad and partner of your wife.?

- How do you compromise yourself to your family?

- Did you ever think that the material things that you have are just temporary happiness and the true one are your kids and spouse?

- How about the burdens of your life? Did you ever cast all your burdens to HIM? (Psalm 55:22)

Being a Dad and also having a 'great career' in life is not really easy. But we could have the JOY in life if we give importance to our FAMILY.

Let us go to church tonight!

I still remember J's face(really happy) when he had his first Vans shoes last time. That was saturday afternoon when we had shopping and he was wearing a brown fatigue and light brown shirt that day. He had chosen dark brown shoes and to his surprise it looks super cool to what he had worn that day.

J : Dad, can I use my new Vans now. (after paying it)
Me : (just look so amaze and can not believe what J said)
J : Please Dad, look at me, I am wearing something brown today and it is really cool to use it today.
Me : Do you know that when somebody has a new one like shoes, shirt, pants then it should be worn for the first time to attend a mass.
J : Why? Why should it be going to church first?(smiling but somehow impatient he he he)
Me : Coz He will bless first your new shoes. (ha ha ha ha)
J : Ok, fine! Let us go to church tonight? (Saturday???ha ha ha)
My wife : Can we attend a Saturday mass tonight?
J : Yehey! I can use my shoes tonight! (Grab his shoes at the back of the car and immediately put it!!! ha ha ha)

I just smile and can not believe it!
